2016 - Plant Sale
We had a magnificent selection of healthy plants to sell at our annual plant sale, thanks to the supreme efforts of several members of the Society.
We admit to a slight concern that when we opened our doors this year, there wouldn't be anyone on the other side.
These fears were due, in part, to lots of people in the village being washed out of their homes during the horrendous flood at the end of last year with many village gardens also being destroyed.
In addition we had a change of venue from the traditional Sale on the Green.
We needn't have worried as you all very kindly came out in force to support the Society maybe buy plants to fill new pots and tubs for those lucky enough to have been moving back to your homes.

This change of venue to the Victoria Hall gave the Committee and other volunteers more time to set up and price a the pots and also protect the plants and humans alike, from any potential downpours and windy conditions on the day.
Many people agreed it was a very good move which enabled the plants to be shown their advantage and in a more organised way and we gratefully received many compliments on the health and value for money of all the offerings on show.

We also sold used garden tools, seeds and gardening books which supplemented the great homebaking which was done by our lovely lady members.
You probably know that all the plants are donated and grown either from seed or are cuttings/seedlings from our gardens which are then carefully overwintered and 'brought on' by our enthusiastic and generous gardeners.
Thank you very much to all those who donated plants and who helped set up the hall and price the plants the day before the sale and to those on duty on the day selling plants and raffle tickets.
Thanks also to the many customers who turned up and happily relieved us of our stock.
All of you go a long way to making the Plant Sale the success that it always is, and of-course, all proceeds get ploughed back into the Society to enable us to put on the Annual Flower Show which is held in the Victoria Hall every August.
