Village Tub Planting - June 2015
The much anticipated arrival of the Council bedding plants meant that the services were called upon from the Ballater Royal Horticultural Society's Tub Planters.
This small group of the Society generously give up a day of their time every year to fill the empty tubs with a riot of colour.

The selection of plants was quite incredible and our small planting team were ready to put their design skills into action
Last year, for the second year in succession, Caitlin Lanigan won the competition to design a garden in the village and her winning design has now been planted in the little garden just below Edward Emslie's shop in the Station Square. Well Done Caitlin - hope you enjoy watching your garden grow. Now's the time for all you budding young garden designers to to put your skills to the test and enter the Children's Challenge in this years show. Maybe your garden design will be planted for all to see next year. |
After the Church and War Memorial tubs are sorted out, Colin and Liz contemplate where to go next and then move on to the entrance to the village and finally join forces with Jim at the Caravan park.
We thank Aberdeenshire Council for providing such substantial and diverse bedding plants.
Many thanks to Jim, Colin and Liz for giving up their valuable time to add to the other colourful plantings in the village. It's especially important this year around the Station Square following the very sad event in May which saw the historic Station Building devastated by fire. Last but not least, a special thank you to Elizabeth who supported the 'tub planters' by transporting all the plants around the village. She then wielded her heavy watering cans to soak around 30 tubs giving them a grand start in life! |
Keep checking this page for updated photos of the tubs as the plants develop and start to erupt into brilliant colourful displays !
