About the Ballater Royal Horticultural Society
The Ballater Royal Horticultural Society is one of the oldest in Britain and held its first Flower Show in 1859. It continues to thrive year-upon-year thanks to the support and enthusiasm of members of the local community of Ballater and surrounds.
Being close to Lochnagar and the Ski Slopes of Glenshee, successfully growing plants and garden produce in the area is a quite a challenge, to say the least.
Some folk go as far as to say,
"If you can grow it in Ballater, you can grow it anywhere"
The cost of annual membership is £10 for full membership which includes entry to each of the evening meetings and free entry to the Annual Show or £5 affiliate membership with a charge for each meeting attended.
Meetings are held on the first Monday in November, December, February, March and April
but in May the meeting is on the second Monday.
Meetings start at 7.30pm in the Mike Sheridan Room of the Albert and Victoria Halls, Station Square, Ballater.
Members and visitors are warmly welcomed to interesting talks and presentations which are given by a variety of invited speakers.
There's also the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker and a chance to catch up with other like minded folk over coffee/tea and a biscuit or two!
Entry: Free for Full Members and £3 for Affiliated Members and Visitors.
Annual events include:
Spring Bulb Show
Plant Sale
Members' Days Out to Various Gardens of Interest
Annual Exhibition/Flower Show in August
